Type-level programming library is now available on Fedora testing repository. Type-level functions are implemented using functional dependencies of multi parameter type classes. วันก่อนลง SketchUp 8 ตัวฟรีไป ก็ไม่ค่อยมีอะไรต่างไปจาก 7 เท่าไหร่ .. แถมฟีเจอร์เด่นที่อยากใช้คือ Solid Tools จะมีเฉพาะตัว SketchUp Pro .. อย่ากระนั้นเลย .. Google ให้ Instructor ขอ Education License ได้ฟรี เลยสั่งซื้อ (ในราคา 0 USD) พร้อมกับส่ง approve doc. ไป .. เสร็จสรรพก็ได้ Education License สำหรับ Google SketchUp Pro 8 มา

ขั้นต่อไปคือติดตั้งกับ WINE .. ปรากฏว่ามันใช้ท่ายากกว่าที่คิดไว้นิดหน่อย คือมันต้องมี .NET Framework 2.0 ก่อน .. (เกลียดมันจริงๆ)

.. แต่ไม่เป็นไร .. บน WINE ก็ติดตั้ง .NET Framework ได้ไม่ยาก ด้วยแพ็คเกจ winetricks

$ winetricks dotnet20

แล้วก็กดๆๆ ไปเรื่อยๆ เดี๋ยวมันก็ลงเสร็จเอง จากนั้นก็ค่อยลง Google SketchUp Pro 8

$ wine GoogleSketchUpProWEN.exe

ถ้าไม่มี license มันจะให้ใช้งาน full feature 8 ชั่วโมง .. ก็กรอก license ให้เรียบร้อย แล้วก็ รอมัน crash เพื่อแก้ OpenGL เหมือนกับตัวฟรี

แล้วก็จะได้ใช้ฟีเจอร์ Solid Tools ที่สั่ง union, intersect, subtract, trim, split ได้ .. import/export DWG/DXF 2010 ได้

ส่วน LayOut ตอนนี้ยังใช้บน WINE ไม่ได้ .. รอกันต่อไป :P

ประชาสัมพันธ์สองงาน

พรุ่งนี้ (เสาร์ 4 กันยา) 12:30 ที่ร้านกาแฟวาวี ซอยอารีย์ มี เวิร์กช็อปและแลกเปลี่ยน "อินเทอร์เน็ตภิบาลกับประชาสังคม"

กลางเดือนนี้ วันที่ 14-17 ก.ย. จะมี Internet Governance Forum ครั้งที่ 5 เป็นที่ประชุมอินเทอร์เน็ตภิบาลระดับโลก คุยกันเรื่องการกำกับดูแลอินเทอร์เน็ต และประเด็นท้าทายใหม่ ๆ ที่ต้องรับมือ

จะมีผู้เข้าร่วมจากภาคประชาสังคมในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ไปร่วมด้วย ถึงจะไม่กี่คน แต่ก็พยายามจะให้มันมีอินพุตมีเสียงจากชายขอบของชายขอบอีกทีบ้าง (คือเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้มันก็ชายขอบในวง IGF อยู่แล้ว แล้วภาคประชาสังคมมันก็ชายขอบของชายขอบไปอีกที) สำหรับประเทศไทยจะตัวแทนจากเครือข่ายพลเมืองเน็ตไปด้วย

เขาก็เลยนัดกันว่า วันเสาร์นี้ เจอกันที่วาวีละกัน มาคุยกัน ใครสนใจอยากจะแลกเปลี่ยน เผื่อฝากประเด็นอะไรไปที่เวทีนี้ ก็ฝากได้ หรือใครอยากจะเข้าร่วมแบบทางไกล ผ่านช่องทางออนไลน์ที่ IGF เขาจะเตรียมไว้ให้ วันเสาร์นี้ก็มีเวิร์กช็อปเล็ก ๆ แนะนำเครื่องไม้เครื่องมือต่าง ๆ ด้วย เป็นการเตรียมตัวเตรียมพร้อม

ทางโครงการอินเทอร์เน็ตเพื่อกฎหมายประชาชน หรือ iLaw ร่วมกับภาคีต่าง ๆ ก็เลยเสนอยกเลิกกฎหมายความมั่นคงทั้ง 3 ฉบับดังกล่าว ด้วยวิธีการออกพ.ร.บ.อีกฉบับหนึ่งมายกเลิก ชื่อว่า พระราชบัญญัติยกเลิกกฎหมายด้านความมั่นคงที่ขัดต่อสิทธิเสรีภาพตามระบอบประชาธิปไตย พ.ศ..... โดยอาศัยช่องทางการเสนอกฎหมายโดยประชาชนเข้าชื่อกันให้ครบ 10,000 ชื่อ ตามรัฐธรรมนูญ

รันอีกครั้งก็จะใช้งาน SketchUp 8 บน WINE on Linux ได้ละ

มันคือกล้องของมือถือ Sony Ericsson K700i ผมก็ชอบสี ชอบ 'เกรน' ของมันด้วย

ผมมีชีวิตช่วงหนึ่งที่ผูกพันกับมือถือเครื่องนี้

จำได้ว่าซื้อมันหลังส่ง dissertation อะไรประมาณนี้ อยากได้มาก่อนหน้านั้นแล้ว แต่ยังไม่ได้ซื้อ พอดีที่ชาร์จมือถือเครื่องเก่าสายมันขาดพอดี ถูกเก้าอี้ในห้องแล็บคอมทับกระจุย ก็เลยถือโอกาสซื้อเลย

อยากซื้อของแก้เครียดด้วย เป็นอีกเหตุ จำได้ว่าช่วงใกล้ ๆ กันก็ซื้อรองเท้าด้วย ผ้าใบ Diesel ที่ลดราคาเหลือ 25 ปอนด์ คู่ที่ใส่อยู่ตอนนั้นมันเจ๊งมาก ๆ แล้ว และหน้าหนาวกำลังจะมา

K700i เครื่องนี้เป็นหลายอย่าง

มันถือเป็นกล้องดิจิทัลตัวแรกในรอบสองสามปีนั้นของผม

ผมซื้อมันที่เอดินบะระ หลังส่ง dissertation แล้วก็ย้ายบ้านทีนึง มาอยู่ใกล้ ๆ กับต้นถนน Leith Walk ผมทำ WeeDict ที่บ้านนี้

แล้วก็ย้ายออกจากเอดินบะระ มาอยู่กะญาติที่ลอนดอนพักนึง ระหว่างรอตอบรับสมัครงานและทุนต่าง ๆ ช่วงนี้มันทำหน้าที่เป็นเครื่องเล่น mp3 และโทรศัพท์อย่างหนัก รวมถึงเกมเทนนิสด้วย

ลอนดอนช่วงนั้นที่ผมอยู่ ปลายปี 2004 หนาวมาก ๆ หิมะเยอะจนซึมเศร้า มันเป็นอารมณ์ของการรอคอยล่ะมั้ง หลาย ๆ เรื่อง

ผมรอตอบรับอะไรต่าง ๆ จนกระทั่งวีซ่าหมด ก็ต้องกลับเมืองไทย ตอนนั้นได้งานที่พอตสดัมแล้ว แต่ต้องรอเอกสารอะไรหลาย ๆ อย่าง ซึ่งจำไม่ได้แล้วว่ายังไง รู้แต่มันวุ่นวาย ๆ หน่อยตรงที่ผมต้องไปเดินเรื่องกะสถานทูตเยอรมันในลอนดอน คือกระบวนการขอใบอนุญาตทำงานมันเริ่มตรงนั้น แล้วตอนแรกนึกว่ามันจะเสร็จก่อนวีซ่ายูเคผมหมดมั้ง แต่ปรากฎว่าไม่ทัน แล้วก็โยกไอ้กระบวนการนั่นกลับมากรุงเทพไม่ได้ด้วย ผมเลยต้องกลับกรุงเทพก่อน แล้วค่อยโผล่ไปลอนดอนอีกรอบ เพื่อเอาใบอนุญาตทำงาน แล้วค่อยไปเบอร์ลินได้ คือวุ่นวายอยู่เหมือนกัน โดยเฉพาะสำหรับผมที่ทึ่มมากเรื่องงานเอกสารต่าง ๆ

เจ้า K700i ก็ไปกับผมด้วย

มันน่าจะได้ไปหลายที่อยู่เหมือนกัน จนผมกลับมากรุงเทพ มันก็ยังใช้การได้ดีอยู่

วาระสุดท้ายของ K700i เครื่องนี้ คือที่หน้าลิฟต์ตึกวิศวะคอม ม.เกษตร คิดว่าน่าจะเป็นวันงาน TLUG ล่ะมั้ง ผมรีบ ๆ ออกมาจากห้อง จะไปอีกที่ มือถือมันก็ตกลงมากระจาย หน้าจอแตก

ตอนแรกว่าจะซ่อม เปลี่ยนจอ ร้านที่มาบุญครองบอกว่าไม่คุ้มหรอก เปลี่ยนเครื่องใหม่ดีกว่า ผมก็ลังเล ชั่งใจอยู่นาน คือข้อมูลและเบอร์โทรต่าง ๆ ข้างในก็ยังอยากได้ แต่ตังค์ก็ไม่ค่อยจะมี :p

สุดท้ายก็ซื้อเครื่องใหม่ เป็น Sony Ericsson K510i เลียนแบบ @theniw

It’s test day time again, folks, and this one’s a biggie! You may have read about the brand new initialization system, systemd, written by Lennart Poettering. At the moment, we’re planning to use it as the default initialization system for Fedora 14. Obviously, this is a bold step with a fairly new piece of code.

This week’s Test Day, which will take place on Tuesday 2010/09/07 rather than the more usual Thursday, is on systemd, so it’s a very important one! It will also serve at least two functions: as usual, the testing will help us to improve the code so that if it does go into the final Fedora 14 release it will work as well as possible, but the Fedora steering committee will also be using the results of the Test Day to help inform their final decision as to whether to go ahead with systemd for the Beta and final release, or whether to revert to upstart. So there’s a lot riding on this Test Day. As usual, the Test Day will run in #fedora-test-day on Freenode IRC – see this page if you’re not sure how to use IRC.

As usual, we’ve tried to make it as easy as possible to participate. There’s full testing instructions on the Test Day wiki page, and you can contribute some helpful testing just by running a nightly live image and making sure it boots correctly. Of course, the more testing you can contribute the better, and there are lots of tests documented on the page for those who have the time and the ability to install a copy of Fedora 14 for testing. We also welcome freeform testing of systemd during the Test Day – it will be very helpful for people simply to configure a test Fedora 14 installation with the configuration you’d typically use, and make sure systemd handles starting the system properly.

Lennart and myself will be around as much as we can during the Test Day to help out and follow up on your results. We’re both in European time zones at present. Lennart’s IRC nick is ‘mezcalero’, and I’m adamw. Please do come along and help us test out this important new component – it’s really important that we get as much testing done as possible. Thanks!

Hello everyone,
I had gone to Christchurch for the weekend after the quake hit there. Something very interesting happened on my way back from Christchurch yesterday. I was standing at the bus stop and waiting for my bus and the bus doesn’t stop at the bus stop and just goes past me. Now I run after the bus and they don’t stop. Turns out I was standing at the wrong bus stop on the same street. I stood there ranting at the bus driver(not loudly) and thinking I just blew 50 buck on that ticket and ended up missing the bus because of my incompetence(LOL). Anyways I wait for the next bus and luckily they had an empty seat on it. While I waited in line to get on, I over hear the driver talking to one of the passengers “How bad was it mate? You are all packed up.”, The guys says, “Not bad holdin’ up well, I just lost everything, Everything I ever owned. Going down to my sisters in DUDs to start over again.” Now is when I was standing there, almost like I was hit on my head with a brick. This was a lesson God wanted me to learn from. He shows me how insignificant my loss was compared to the many who have lost their entire lives. I have everything in my life, all the comforts and have a very fulfilling life with what I do as well. Thank you so much Father God, for keeping me safe and thank you so much for the suffering in my life. It makes me a better man.

Well I think watching 3 seasons of Top Gear on the telly in the last couple of weeks has reached its end. [Well especially since Netflix doesn't have any of the older series yet on instant view.] The last couple of nights I have had dreams of Thomas the Tank Engine narrated by Jeremy Clarkson. And yes the race between Bertie and Thomas ended in "and across the line."

Now to see if I can get a Region 1 DVD player so I can watch James May's latest series: Toy Stories. I really want to see Big Ideas too, but that does not look available. I will just have to order the books. Of the three and a half (the Stig) presenters, I have found I like James the best... as sadly I have his sense of direction and love of little details.

[Oh and I had such a great challenge idea after watching the Gumpert race.. build a car that can drive upside down. I figure a large wind tunnel could simulate the velocity to push a vehicle 'down' (or in this case up)... and you could crash several of them to see if any of the ideas work.]

I haven’t included the X Cursor as it’s licence it’s Artistic 2.0 and I’m not sure if I can repackage it and distribute it. Not messing with the Wallpaper also because I’m not aware of it’s licence and the Icon Theme I advice you to install it using the install script distributed with it.

เบอร์ลินสมัยที่ผมอยู่ มี 3 สนามบิน คือ Tempelhof (THF), Tegel (TXL), และ Schönefeld (SXF) — อันหลังนี่ จริง ๆ มันอยู่นอกเบอร์ลินไปหน่อย อยู่ในรัฐ Brandenburg

ตอนไปเบอร์ลินครั้งแรก ผมนั่ง EasyJet ไปลง Schönefeld (คิดว่าน่าจะมาจากสนามบิน Luton - ไม่ค่อยชัวร์) ส่วนตอนกลับเมืองไทย ผมกลับ Austrian Airlines จาก Tegel

Tegel เป็นสนามบินอันนึงที่ผมชอบ คือมันเล็กดี แล้วมันเป็นวงกลม (หกเหลี่ยม) = เดินง่ายและไม่เหนื่อย วิกิพีเดียบอกว่า ระยะทางจากเครื่องบินไปจนถึงประตูทางออกจากอาคารผู้โดยสาร แค่ 30 เมตร! โคตรแฮปปี้เลยครับ นึกถึงดอนเมืองในประเทศ ที่เดินได้ชิล ๆ ไม่ต้องรีบ แล้วเทียบกะสุวรรณภูมิ ที่นอกจากจะโคตรยาว ไม่มีขนส่งมวลชนภายใน แล้วยังดันมีแต่ซุ้ม King Power ให้เกะกะเล่นตลอดทาง

ในหนังสายลับยุคสงครามเย็น เราจะเห็น Tegel อยู่บ่อย ๆ มันเป็นสนามบินหลักสนามบินหนึ่งในช่วงนั้น

Tegel สร้างในช่วงปฏิบัติการ Berliner Luftbrücke สะพานอากาศเบอร์ลิน หลังจากที่โซเวียตตัดการเดินทางทางบกเข้าสู่เขตปกครองของสัมพันธมิตรในเบอร์ลิน สัมพันธมิตรเลยตอบโต้ด้วยปฏิบัติการนี้ ขนเสบียงอาหารและของใช้ต่าง ๆ เข้าเบอร์ลินทางอากาศ โดยสหราชอาณาจักรใช้สนามบิน Gatow สหรัฐอเมริกาใช้ Tempelhof ส่วนฝรั่งเศสใช้ Tegel แต่ละสนามบินที่ว่ามา อยู่ในเขตปกครองของแต่ละประเทศสัมพันธมิตร เบอร์ลินสมัยนั้นแยกเป็นสี่เขตปกครอง

ชื่อสนามบินแห่งใหม่นี้เต็ม ๆ ในภาษาเยอรมันคือ Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg „Willy Brandt“ เพื่อเป็นเกียรติแก่ วิลลี บรันดท์ นายกรัฐมนตรีเยอรมนีตะวันตก ที่ดำเนิน นโยบายตะวันออก Ostpolitik ปรับปรุงความสัมพันธ์กับเยอรมนีตะวันออก โปแลนด์ และสหภาพโซเวียต นโยบายของเขาก่อให้เกิดการโต้แย้งอย่างมากในเยอรมนีตะวันตก เขาได้รางวัลโนเบลสาขาสันติภาพในปี 1971

Mój brat używa Ubuntu i to on sprowokował ten post. Sprowokował go rewelacyjnym wyglądem Ubuntu. Fedora może się dużo nauczyć od ludzi z Canonical jeśli chodzi o design. Całe szczęście można w pewnym stopniu stworzyć sobie styl Ambiance na Fedorze. Rozwiązanie nie jest wolne od błędów i na pewno nie jest przyjemne ale efekt końcowy wygląda ok. Zrzut ekranu na zachętę.


Do uzyskania takiego wyglądu potrzeba kliku pakietów.
Pierwsze co to ikony. Mnie udało się znaleźć paczki rpm z ikonami ubuntu: ubuntu-mono-icons i human-icon-theme. Nie są przygotowane dla Fedory ale można instalować bez obaw, jedyna rzecz jaka się zainstaluje w systemie to nowe ikony.
Kolejną rzeczą do instalacji jest sam motyw Ambiance, w tym wypadku jest to jego wariacja o nazwie Ambiantastic. W tym momencie pojawiają się drobne problemy, z prostego powodu, wersja murrine w Fedorze jest trochę niższa niż w Ubuntu. Sam motyw można już wybrać ale wygląd będzie mocno odbiegał od tego czego się spodziewamy. Rozwiązaniem jest uruchomienie jakiegoś programu w terminalu (ważne aby tylko pokazało się brzydkie okienko) i już można zabrać się do edycji pliku gtkrc dla danego motywu. W terminalu powinien pojawić się następujący błąd.

~/.themes/Ambiance III/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:117: error: unexpected identifier `arrowstyle', expected character `}'

Rozwiązanie jest proste czyli zakomentowanie linijki i ponowne uruchomienie wcześniejszego programu w celu testów. Zapewniam, że podobne błędy wyskoczą kilkakrotnie i za każdym razem będzie trzeba komentować nowe linijki. W końcu odpali się bez tych błędów (będą inne dotyczące ikon) i będzie wyglądać w porządku.
Teraz trochę o irytujących błędach, które się pojawiają. Pierwszy z nich to tło niektórych ikon z traya, jest białe i rzuca się w oczy jak psia kupa na śniegu.

Następny błąd to wygląd przycisków na belce tytułowej okien, nie są one idealnie zaokrąglone, właściwie to wcale.

Ostatni to nie błąd a niedociągnięcie, mianowicie niektóre ikony pomimo tego, że mają odpowiedniki nie są zastępowane przez ikony ubuntu-mono. Prawdopodobnie jest to spowodowane innym nazewnictwem plików ikon. Na obecną chwilę nic innego nie zauważyłem. Będę używał tego motywu i tak bo motyw Fedory mi zbrzydł okropnie. A kto wie, może murrine zostanie zaktualizowane niedługo i te artefakty znikną. Swoją drogą to ciekawe jak się prezentuje wygląd F14, ja dzisiaj zerknąłem na Ubuntu 10.10 i nie mogłem znaleźć swojej szczęki przez długi czas.

Update: Udało mi się zmusić ikonę głośności do wyświetlania ikon z motywu. Należy w katalogu /usr/share/icons/ubuntu-mono-dark/status/24/ usunąć słowo panel z nazw plików audio.

I’ve made available in my fedora user space some RPM’s for Fedora 13 with notifyconf, a configuration tool for Notify OSD. Notify OSD needs to be patched with the patch provided by leolik.

I know the stock icon for this tool sucks. It can be launched from GNOME Menu > System Tools > NotifyOSD Configuration.
